The use of various household wastes in the synthesis of melanin by Aureobasidium pullulans

It is known that food wastes occur in the entire chain from farm to fork and pose a major problem worldwide. In Turkey, approximately 45 thousand tons of onion peel 550 bread emerge as waste. On other hand, potato, apple, pear field are 455 thousand, 122 27 per year, respectively. also annual total kitchen waste generated only Ankara 5.35 megatons. obvious traditional disposal methods cause environmental, economic, social problems, therefore, conversion into biotechnological products with high added value more sustainable, oriented meet global needs, profitable. this study, potential use onion, pear, carrot peels, residues for production melanin, high-value-added pigment, by fermentation was investigated. studies, native strain Aureobasidium pullulans AZ-6 A. NBRC 100716 were used separately inoculum. The highest melanin (3.71 g/L) study achieved extract, similar result (3.28 obtained apple extract. This revealed peels can be important substrate sources production.
